SIASA ZA KENYA ..........End of week stories
America will never learn and its excuses border on the ridiculous. It attacked Somalia ostensibly to hunt the criminals behind the August 7, 1998, and November 28, 2002, bombings in Kenya and nearly 100 people have died. So Uncle Tom had to wait 10 years to go for Osama bin Laden’s disciples? Have the terrorists been waiting for the Yankees? An excuse that Iraq had WMD has brought woes. The US is not the world’s chief cop!

And remaining with Somalia, President Abdullah Yusuf never ceases to amaze. He cheers the Americans on as they terrorize his people and raze his country just as he turned to the Ethiopians to fight the Islamists. Looking for a lame duck leader? Look no further.

In Sudan, the 2005 peace agreement has turned sour. The crack between the North and the South is so wide that during the second anniversary, VP Salva Kiir had to drive his point home through the drumbeats of a band. For President Omar el Bashir, not even bottles of water at the podium were safe. In the 2011 referendum, you can bet that Sudan will cease to exist as we know it.

What’s so difficult in ODM-Kenya acknowledging that some blood will be split in the battle for the party’s presidential ticket? Today, they want delegates to decide the match, tomorrow consensus is preferred. Henry Kosgey says ODM will score a first in politics: Keep the competition friendly. Will you ask candidates to campaign for rivals? Let them teach KFF and Maendeleo ya Wanawake the trick.

The 20-share index at the NSE hit a historic 6,000-point on Tuesday. What are the forces behind the bull run? Is it a six per cent economic growth or drug money? Over to Raila.

Barclays Bank’s Prestige Centres are supposed to be prestigious and that is why a whopping Sh1,200 is slashed from customers’ accounts every month. But where is the prestige if the queues rival ordinary bank halls and tellers are scarce?

Some politicians don’t just get it. Some Luhya MPs are opposed to the new name of Western University of Science and Technology purely because of divisive Ford-Kenya politics and Masinde Muliro was from a sub-tribe they love to hate. If only politicians could keep off education issues!

What you say and do always comes back to haunt you. And this is what will happen to Narc or its remnants in Government. The Sh1 billion fund promises won’t satiate the youths’ demand for the fulfillment of Narc’s 500,000 jobs’ a year pledge. They have vowed to collect one million certificates — degree, diploma, high school and primary — and dump them at the Big House on the Hill.

The lengths some people go to get high is quite amazing. American Tiffany Kelly, 28, mailed 78 pounds of marijuana (bhang) to herself so that she could smoke and distribute it. A postal inspector became suspicious of the two parcels. They were opened, resealed and sent to Kelly. When she went to collect them, she was arrested for accepting the packages. She will be a State guest for two-and-a half years.

President Museveni has given the 333 Ugandan MPs more than they bargained for. They had asked for Sh2.4 million car grants each, but the government will buy the vehicles, fuel and service them. The MPs are thrilled. They aren’t alone, it’s the thrill of East African waheshimiwa.

And finally …
What has football come to? If Liverpool can concede six goals, then yote yawezekana. What is the pride in Arsenal win if three balls were pumped into the net?
