The former MP said it was the people he had served for 15 uninterrupted years that suggested the move. He promised to meet the expenses for the publication of the withdrawal notice in the Kenya Gazette.
Mr Shaban was defeated by ODM’s Hussein in the last General Election after serving the area for almost three consecutive terms. He, however, disputed the results, citing election malpractices.
During his tenure, Mr Shaaban was credited with putting up the Arabia Secondary School, improving the roads, especially the Mandera-Arabia-Fino-lafey Road and helping many young professionals with continuity of their education.
